The Harris County Hospital District is the public healthcare system for the nation’s third most-populous county. It includes three hospitals, 13 community health centers, 13 homeless shelter clinics, eight school-based clinics, five mobile health clinics, a dialysis center, and a free-standing dental center.
Through a carefully mapped expansion plan, we are transforming the Harris County Hospital District from a hospital-centric model into a balanced platform emphasizing community-based, primary care. Never have we been better positioned to lead our community on a journey to wellness.
Harris County Hospital District has embarked on a journey of transformation. Well-known for excellence in trauma care and treating serious illness, our vision is to be a balanced “well care” system and a community leader in alleviating human suffering and the extreme financial costs so often associated with preventable illness.
Unfortunately, every day we see first hand the consequences of certain preventable conditions and their effects on the healthcare system. At HCHD, we believe that wellness is a state of optimum health and well-being, achieved through the active pursuit of good health.
